As of 10:00 AM on August 26th, due to the influence of the circulation of typhoon No. 5, the water level of Thanh Lanh Lake has reached an elevation of +76.67m and is continuing to rise.
According to the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, Tam Dao Irrigation Company Limited, starting at 5 PM on August 26, 2025, Thanh Lanh reservoir will begin releasing water down to the Cote +75.00m elevation, with a flow rate of 10m3/s to 50m3/s depending on the rainfall and flood situation.
Regulating the water release is carried out to ensure the safety of the reservoir structure, while maintaining water resources for production and daily life of the people and limiting flooding in downstream areas.
The Thanh Lanh Reservoir began releasing water from 5 PM on August 26th to continue responding to the remnants of Typhoon No. 5.
Currently, along with the water release, authorities have deployed vehicles and materials according to the approved flood control and rescue plan for Thanh Lanh Lake; they have also set up checkpoints at underpasses and spillways to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles during the water regulation period. Downstream localities are also required to proactively develop plans to respond to flooding and protect the lives and property of the people.
The reservoir management board stated that monitoring, patrolling, and guarding the site will be maintained 24/7 to detect and promptly handle any arising situations, ensuring the safety of the reservoir and the downstream area throughout the period affected by Typhoon No. 5.
