The Vietnam national team will have a training session in June to prepare for two friendly matches with Hong Kong (June 15) and Syria (June 20). The team's training list will be announced by coach Philippe Troussier on June 2. This is the first long-term training session of the French coach with the Vietnam national team.
It is expected that the coaching staff of the Vietnamese team will call up 30 players, of which about 20% will be new faces compared to the period when coach Park Hang-seo took power, sought by Mr. Troussier in V-League 2023.
Vietnam team gathers on June 7
The Vietnam national team is expected to regroup on June 7, after finishing round 11 of V-League 2023. During the V-League matches, Coach Troussier and his colleagues went to the stadiums to monitor the performance of the players as well as look for new players to call up to the team's concentration list.
According to the 2023 schedule, in addition to international friendly matches during FIFA Days in June, September and October, the Vietnamese team will play two matches in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup, on November 13 and November 21, respectively. The Vietnamese team's opponents will be determined after the draw results next July.
Previously, the Vietnamese team was determined to be in the same group as Japan, Iraq and Indonesia in the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup.
