ABC News reports that Milton has been downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, with winds of about 90 mph. The storm is moving east and northeast at about 15 mph. Flash flood warnings remain in place for parts of west-central Florida.
In St. Petersburg, the roof of Tropicana Field was lost after Hurricane Milton swept through the area. Video showed the roof reduced to a skeleton. Also in the city, authorities had to temporarily shut down drinking water after a water main burst. A crane collapsed at a construction site in St. Petersburg on October 9, with no reported injuries.

Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg received more than 18 inches of rain after Milton made landfall, while Tampa International Airport received 10 inches of rain. Officials in St. Lucie County, Florida, reported at least two deaths and multiple people were taken to the hospital after tornadoes appeared ahead of Milton's landfall, NBC News reported.

Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson said residents are starting to see "light at the end of the tunnel" as Hurricane Milton moves east.
"The worst is over, the winds are dying down, we still have strong gusts, but we're starting to see light at the end of the tunnel," he said, adding that these were the strongest winds he's seen since arriving in Florida.
By the night of October 9, a few hours after the storm made landfall, the eye of Hurricane Milton had moved away from Tampa and toward Orlando, Florida. The storm left more than 2 million homes in Florida without power. Rescuers in Tampa had to suspend emergency operations until conditions improved, as winds in the area topped 100 mph.
