The tropical depression has developed into storm No. 8 in the East Sea, internationally named Mitag. Due to the influence of storm No. 8's circulation, it is forecasted that on August 22-23, the northern provinces will experience widespread heavy rain.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the afternoon of September 18, the tropical depression strengthened into a storm. The center of the storm at 1 p.m. was at about 19.9 degrees North latitude and 118.4 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea.

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 8 (62-74km/h), gusting to level 10, moving northwest at a speed of 15-20km/h.

According to forecasts, in the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to strengthen, at 1:00 p.m. on September 19, it will be at about 22.4 degrees North latitude and 115.2 degrees East longitude, on the southern coastal area of ​​Guangdong province (China), level 9, gusting to level 11.

On September 20, the storm made landfall in Guangdong province, weakening into a tropical depression, with winds reaching level 7 and gusts reaching level 10. On September 21, the tropical depression gradually weakened into a low pressure area in the southwest of Guangdong province (China).

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, although storm No. 8 did not directly affect Vietnam's mainland, it still caused bad weather at sea and on land in Vietnam.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the northeastern sea area of ​​the northern East Sea has strong winds of level 6 - level 7, gusting to level 9. The area near the storm's center has strong winds of level 8 - level 9, gusting to level 11; waves 3 - 5 m high; very rough seas.

During the day and night of tomorrow, September 19, the northern sea area of ​​the North East Sea will have strong winds of level 8 - level 9, gusts of level 10 - level 11, waves 3 - 5 m high, and very rough seas.

Due to the influence of storm No. 8, it is forecasted that on August 22-23, the northern provinces will experience widespread heavy rain.
