According to the report of Tram Chim National Park, after receiving 6 red-crowned cranes, the unit established a red-crowned crane management and care team, consisting of 9 members, clearly assigning tasks; issuing regulations on entering and exiting the red-crowned crane cage; strictly managing people entering and exiting the crane cage.
Every week, the crane management and care team assigns a schedule and designs the cranes' diet according to the learning process from Thailand and the International Crane Association.
In addition to the pelleted diet, natural foods include small fish, crickets, baby frogs, rice worms and water chestnuts available in the wild.
Increase vitamin supplementation in drinking water when it rains a lot, supplement for 5 consecutive days then stop.
Feeding time for cranes usually starts from 8:00 - 8:15; check and clean items in the cage, crane cage center twice a week; monitor water quality in the cage, water change cycle in the middle lake; make preliminary assessment of cranes' activities and behavior; monitor living gestures after eating (according to recommendations of Thai experts) through surveillance camera system, record data.

Mr. Bui Thanh Phong - Deputy Director of Tram Chim National Park - reported to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province about some difficulties in implementing the red-crowned crane conservation project regarding risks of natural disasters and epidemics due to the long scope of the project; fluctuations in policy mechanisms in both Vietnam and Thailand that could affect signed commitments; dependence on foreign partners for crane resources.
"Challenges in habitat restoration and building safe buffer zones, cranes can only survive if there is suitable habitat; core habitat restoration requires high determination;
Building a safe agricultural ecosystem outside the buffer zone is a very difficult task, requiring changes in farming practices and a long time to see results," said Mr. Phong.

Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee - requested Tram Chim National Park to continue to closely monitor and supervise the implementation of the red-crowned crane conservation project, promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee, and propose contents and directions for upcoming activities.
"The conservation of red-crowned cranes is identified as a difficult task, requiring perseverance and high determination over a period of 10 years and possibly longer. It is recommended that units continue to implement it closely to ensure the set goals.
"During the process of caring for cranes, it is necessary to closely monitor and consult with experts from the International Crane Association and veterinarians," said Mr. Tuan.
