According to statistics, the whole Ha Nam province currently has 117 traditional festivals. Of which, Kim Bang town and Duy Tien town are the two localities with the largest number of festivals. Each land has its own unique features: Duy Tien stands out with its festival of worshipping the god of agriculture , combining Buddhist elements and commemorating the ancestors of the profession; Kim Bang is associated with the worship of the god of nature; Thanh Liem stands out with its martial spirit and folk games such as wrestling, boat racing, and water procession; Ly Nhan has many festivals worshipping the village's tutelary god and national heroes; Binh Luc focuses on commemorating cultural celebrities.
Festivals in Ha Nam take place mainly in the first three months of the year and the eighth lunar month, with solemn and respectful ceremonies and exciting festivities imbued with traditional cultural nuances. Notably, more than 87% of festivals have special activities such as palanquin processions, ceremonies, reading of congratulatory messages, performing folk games, etc., contributing to preserving the community space and local cultural identity.

Many festivals still retain unique traditional customs such as: pounding rice cakes, flag dancing, and singing at Yen Trach village festival (Ly Nhan); flag dancing, wrestling with 5 sticks at Lieu Doi wrestling festival (Thanh Liem); hunting hoe festival, tom diem, rice cooking competition at Vi Ha communal house (Binh Luc); or traditional wrestling games at An Mong communal house (Duy Tien), Gua village (Thanh Liem)... These are living heritages, demonstrating the depth of culture, customs, beliefs and spirit of the people of Ha Nam.
In particular, Ha Nam also has many craft village festivals associated with the worship of traditional craft ancestors, typically: Doi Tam communal house festival (worshiping the drum craft ancestor), Cao Da communal house - pagoda festival (worshiping Lu Ban - the carpentry craft ancestor)... Most of the festivals are closely associated with the system of long-standing historical - cultural relics such as communal houses, temples, pagodas, contributing to creating a profound spiritual and cultural space.
In order to preserve and promote the value of the festival, in recent times, Ha Nam has promoted the restoration and embellishment of relics - a fundamental element in organizing the festival. Thanks to resources from the National Target Program and the provincial budget, nearly 140 relics and relic clusters have been invested in restoration such as: Doi Son Pagoda, Vi Ha Communal House, Ba Danh Pagoda, Tran Thuong Temple, etc. At the same time, many localities have actively mobilized social resources, with hundreds of billions of VND from people and social organizations contributing to the work of heritage conservation.
Along with preserving tangible objects, Ha Nam province also focuses on preserving intangible cultural values. Organizing folk culture festivals at typical relics every year is one of the effective initiatives. Rituals and folk performances are reproduced in their original form, without professionalization, ensuring tradition, thereby contributing to spreading the value of festivals in the community, especially the younger generation.
Notably, some typical festivals of Ha Nam such as: Tran Thuong Temple Festival, Tich Dien Doi Son Festival, Lieu Doi Wrestling Festival, Lanh Giang Temple Festival, Ba Danh Pagoda, Ba Vu Temple... have been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is a clear demonstration of the typical value and wide influence of festivals in Ha Nam.
To further promote the value of festivals, Ha Nam province is aiming to promote the application of technology in digitizing intangible cultural heritage, serving the storage, preservation, exploitation and wide promotion. The recognition and honoring of artisans - the "living museums" that hold the soul of the festival - is also being focused on, in order to maintain the source of heritage.
In its sustainable development strategy, Ha Nam aims to effectively exploit the value of festivals in association with the development of rural tourism, community tourism and craft village tourism. Festivals are not only unique cultural assets but also a great resource contributing to promoting tourism development, promoting the local image and improving the spiritual life of the people.
Preserving and promoting traditional festivals is not only preserving the past but also a practical action to build a sustainable cultural future rich in identity for Ha Nam province.
