Proactive prevention
These days, Thanh Khe ward is focusing on promoting awareness and improving food safety practices during Tet and the festive season; emphasizing the prevention of alcohol poisoning; and guiding people on how to select, preserve, prepare, and consume safe food.
Public awareness campaigns are conducted using various appropriate forms and means to promptly disseminate regulations and knowledge, while also mobilizing public participation in preventing and combating the production and sale of counterfeit and substandard food.
Simultaneously, the ward is strengthening inspections and supervision of food production, processing, and business establishments, focusing on legal documents and food safety conditions. This includes: equipment and utensils; conditions for isolation from sources of contamination; areas, tables, shelves, and utensils for storing and eating; measures to protect against insects and harmful animals. Food processing, preservation, and transportation procedures; product labeling; origin of raw materials and food additives; and water sources used in processing are also thoroughly reviewed.
From July 1st to December 16th, 2025, the inter-agency food safety inspection team of Hai Chau ward conducted inspections of 416 food production, processing, and trading establishments in the area. During the inspections, 21 establishments were found to be in violation of food safety regulations and were fined a total of nearly 60 million VND.
To ensure food safety during the Lunar New Year and spring festival season of 2026, Hai Chau ward continues to implement its plan to inspect and monitor food production and business establishments. The focus is on establishments producing and trading agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, as well as items that are widely consumed during Tet, such as meat and meat products, sausages, cakes, jams, and candies.
In addition, inspections also focused on food service establishments and street food vendors, aiming to promptly detect and prevent violations, thereby contributing to protecting consumer health during peak holiday seasons.

Strengthen measures
The City Food Safety Department, in coordination with relevant units, established inspection teams to examine food production and business establishments in the area before, during, and after the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse). The focus of the inspections was on food service establishments, vegetable and fruit production and trading facilities, wholesale markets, establishments producing and trading alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, cakes, and candies; and establishments serving year-end banquets…
In addition, monitoring of food origin, processing and preservation procedures, random rapid testing of food samples, and strict handling of violations in accordance with the law will be carried out.
According to Phan Thanh Thoai, head of the Con Market Management Board, the unit has intensified its efforts to raise awareness and remind traders to strictly comply with regulations on food safety. Accordingly, goods sold at the market must have clear labels, origins, and expiration dates.
The market management board regularly maintains a trade security team to inspect confectionery and dried food items in order to promptly detect and handle violations. At the same time, traders proactively maintain brand reputation, import goods in appropriate quantities, and ensure quality to serve the shopping needs of the people.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of the Han Market Management Board, the market receives approximately 3,000-5,000 visitors daily for sightseeing and shopping. During the peak shopping season of the Lunar New Year, the Market Management Board instructs traders to display prices and affix QR codes to allow consumers to easily trace the origin of goods. Currently, Han Market has about 300 households engaged in the food business. The Market Management Board regularly strengthens inspections and reminds traders to comply with regulations on ensuring security, order, and food safety, contributing to providing safe and convenient shopping for people during Tet.
