A large number of Korean fans welcomed Barcelona to the tour. |
After the tumultuous days in Kobe and Seoul, Hansi Flick's team continued to be warmly welcomed when they arrived in Daegu, South Korea - the final stop on this journey.
Laporta - "star" off the pitch
As soon as the car carrying the Barca leadership pulled up in front of the Marriott Hotel - the team's headquarters in Daegu - the atmosphere outside was as bustling as a festival. About 200 fans, mostly Koreans wearing "Blaugrana" colors, had been waiting since early to see their idols.
The first to step out was not a player, but President Joan Laporta. It seemed that he was chanted more than the stars on the pitch. "Laporta, I love you!" - the slogan echoed from many corners, mixed with cheers and colorful flags.
Not keeping his distance, the Barca president was friendly, walking along both sides of the fan fence, shaking hands, signing autographs and taking pictures with them. Some even brought shirts of each player, and Laporta happily signed them all, without stopping.
The moment not only showed Laporta's personal charisma, but also clearly reflected the global influence of Barcelona - a team that is both Catalan in identity and a football icon across borders.
Lamine Yamal attracts the attention of fans. |
Minutes later, the team bus arrived, and as usual, the excitement was at its peak. From Dani Olmo to Raphinha, from Lamine Yamal to Robert Lewandowski - each name chanted sent a wave of excitement through the crowd. Despite their tight schedules, the players did not forget to say thank you with smiles and friendly waves.
Raphinha, in particular, was the name that received the most cheers - partly because of his impressive performance in the previous match, and partly because of the closeness he showed throughout the tour.
Lamine Yamal, a rising young talent, also attracted attention. He wore sunglasses and a baseball cap, looking discreet but still unable to hide his star aura.
Rest before the final match
After a noisy welcome, the team quickly settled down at the Marriott Hotel to rest and have a meal. This would be a short break before they entered the final friendly match against Daegu FC - the team with a magnificent home stadium: Daegu Stadium with a capacity of over 60,000 seats. This is also the place that hosted the third-place match of the 2002 World Cup.
The schedule in Daegu is well organised: the distance from the hotel to the stadium is only about 4 km, so the team bus can go faster than usual. After the match, the Barca team will travel directly to Incheon Airport (Seoul) by road - a distance of more than 3 hours - to catch the flight back to Barcelona.
Barcelona is still the club loved by Asian fans. |
Despite a rocky start to the trip due to delays and logistical issues, Barca have finally completed a tour that has brought many positives. From testing the squad, consolidating form, building trust with fans, to media effects and commercial revenue - all have brought positive signals.
More importantly, Barca reiterates to the world one thing: this is not just a football team - but a global cultural icon, closely tied to Catalonia but also belonging to millions of football-loving hearts across all continents.
What next? The final game in Daegu will be a farewell to Asia. But for Barcelona, each trip like this is a stepping stone to a new season - one in which they will not only regain their glory, but also reaffirm their status as a footballing empire.
