Despite the prohibition sign, a series of cars drove onto Hung Vuong Street under construction.

QTO - In recent days, a series of cars have been driving one after another onto the extended Hung Vuong Street (connecting Nam Dong Ha Ward with Trieu Phong Commune). Some people have even arbitrarily removed the prohibition signs to let their vehicles into the construction site, causing traffic insecurity.

According to the reporter's records on the morning of September 15, despite the contractor placing prohibition signs and dumping materials to block the road, many car drivers still deliberately drove into the Hung Vuong extended route under construction from Nam Dong Ha ward to Trieu Phong commune. In particular, many people, despite being warned, still deliberately drove in and were then forced to turn around.

Mr. Trinh Dinh Lam, Site Commander (Manh Linh Construction Co., Ltd.) said that in the evening, the density of cars entering the construction route is very high. “The vehicles entering the construction site are mainly cars and trucks. This situation causes conflicts between the contractor's vehicles and the people's vehicles, risks traffic accidents and hinders the construction progress, so we are forced to block the beginning and end of the route. We ask people not to rush to travel on the route to create conditions for the contractor to complete the construction on schedule,” Mr. Lam said.

Mr. Lam added that the contractor is currently mobilizing about 50 workers and 25 machines to speed up the construction progress of the 2.2km Hung Vuong road with asphalt paving, curbing, and completing intersections. In fact, the entire route has been paved with crushed stone, and vehicles can basically run from the beginning to the end of the route. According to the schedule, the project will be completed on September 30.

The Hung Vuong Road project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor and the Southeast Economic Zone is part of the QT07 package of the BIIG2 project, with a total length of nearly 4.2km. Of which, route 1 of Hung Vuong Road is 2.2km long, route 2 of Bao Dai Road is more than 2km long, worth 80.9 billion VND.

This project was approved for investment in 2017, and the first construction contract was signed in December 2020, but was delayed due to many reasons, including site clearance. In August 2024, Quang Tri province terminated the contract with the old contractor and re-bid the project in November 2024.

This route is important in connecting the urban center of Dong Ha with the South of Quang Tri province. In particular, the road runs parallel to National Highway 1 with a BOT station, so for many years people have been waiting for the project to be completed soon to have more convenient transportation options.
