Arrested drug trafficker, seized more than 1,000 heroin packets

DNO - At noon on June 21, Hai Chau District Police urgently arrested Tran Hai Trung (born in 1999, residing in Thach Thang Ward) for illegal drug trafficking, seizing more than 1 heroin cake divided into more than 1,000 small packages.

Notably, Trung is the niece of Tran Thi Thanh (born in 1963), the drug "kingpin" in the Xom Chua area (Hai Chau 2 ward) who was previously arrested by Hai Chau District Police along with more than 10 other relatives.

According to Hai Chau District Police, through the investigation of the situation, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Team discovered that Tran Hai Trung (called Tran Thi Thanh as his aunt) had many signs of financial irregularities. The subject did not have a stable job but spent hundreds of millions of dong to buy a motorbike.

In addition, Trung's house in a small alley on Ly Tu Trong Street often has strangers, many of whom have a history of drug use, coming and going, so they are being monitored and supervised.

At around 10:30 a.m. on June 21, three suspects were found entering Trung's house to buy drugs. As soon as they left the alley, detectives immediately rushed in and arrested them with the evidence.

Quickly investigating the suspects, the police raided Tran Hai Trung's residence and arrested him. During the search, the police seized more than 1 heroin cake that Trung divided into more than 1,000 small packages; at the same time, they detained 2 suspects present at Trung's home for further investigation and verification.

According to the police, Trung has a sister, a younger brother and a biological father who are serving prison sentences for illegal drug trafficking. The case is currently being investigated and handled by the Drug Crime Investigation Police Team, Hai Chau District Police.
