A few years ago, she debuted in the literary world with fourth prize in a short story contest with the theme Vietnamese Village in the Integration Period and several collections of poems published in the spring newspaper.

Sharing at the launch of the epic poem, the "young" female poet - the main character - did not know what to say other than to express her heartfelt thanks for the great happiness she received from her friends today.

She admitted that her first work was just clumsy writing, but "it was the turbulent river of her life."

Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu also shared this. He said that the epic poem Cuc is her most honest voice, the most complete and perfect record of her life, the whole inner person that she had to live in silence for so long.

"That epic poem is a dream, a delirium, a fear, a despair...

But the poems gradually opened up all the darkness in her with the light deep in her soul.

And then in the end, readers see her soar in the beauty of life and the beauty of poetry," poet Nguyen Quang Thieu said about the epic poem Cuc.

After reading the last verse of the epic poem, he quietly called Hoang Cuc a poet, with verses full of sharing and haunting.

He said he had read many poems and he thought that Hoang Cuc had made her own path.

He thanked Hoang Cuc for bringing poetry a path, perhaps a very vague, very small path, but a new path for Vietnamese poetry.

Big surprise about Hoang Cuc

For literary critic Do Anh Vu, the epic poem Cuc was a big surprise. It is rare to see an author in the modern Vietnamese poetry world whose first collection of poems is an epic poem.

Because a long poem requires a writing force, a force field, a story with countless details and events. Those details and events must be symbolized by poetic language.

Critic Pham Xuan Nguyen said he was not surprised that Hoang Cuc wrote poetry. Many years ago, poet Hoang Nhuan Cam told him that Hoang Cuc wrote poetry and that her poetry was quite good.

But he was still surprised about Hoang Cuc when reading the epic poem Cuc - a narrative work in verse with skillful poetic art in many sections.

Regarding the epic poem, according to Do Anh Vu, it can be seen as an autobiography in verse by Hoang Cuc.

The author tells the readers many stories, feelings, and confides many thoughts, spread out over a long period of time, from childhood, adolescence to later years.

Cuc's poetic language is liberal, natural, and flexible in form. Sometimes it is free, sometimes it is seven-word verse, sometimes it is six-eight, sometimes it is five-word verse.

In any part of the epic, readers can easily find impressive verses, good stanzas, and touching verses.

For example, when the author writes about his mother:
