After only 5 hours of investigation, Phuoc Ninh Ward Police (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) arrested the theft suspect, Hoang Dinh Tam (35 years old, from Vinh Thuan Town, Vinh Thuan District, Kien Giang Province).
On March 16, Hai Chau District Police temporarily detained Hoang Dinh Tam to expand the investigation into the theft cases.
Previously, at 3:00 p.m. on March 14, Phuoc Ninh Ward Police received a report from Ms. TTCG (28 years old, from Binh Thuan province) about the loss of an HP laptop worth 22 million VND, while staying at a homestay apartment on Tran Phu Street (Phuoc Ninh Ward).
The ward police assigned a criminal investigation team to quickly approach, examine the scene, verify and deploy investigation measures.
Tam was detained at the police station.
After 5 hours of investigation, Phuoc Ninh Ward Police identified Hoang Dinh Tam as the suspect, so they invited him to the headquarters to fight and recover Ms. G's laptop.
Tam confessed that due to lack of money to spend, he followed the tourists. When he saw Ms. G. careless and leaving her belongings on the bed, he sneaked into the homestay to commit the theft.
At the same time, Tam also admitted that he had previously successfully stolen a tablet on Trieu Viet Vuong Street (An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City).
Tam brought this tablet to the pawn shop and pawned it for more than 5 million VND for personal use. At the same time, he confessed that he had no job, no stable place to live, and was wandering around many provinces and cities to steal.
In Da Nang City, Tam often stalked tourists, followed them to their homestays, and took advantage of areas where apartments and rooms were rented out with lax access controls to break in and steal property. Hai Chau District Police are expanding their investigation into the case.
