The national flag painting trend originated from a video of a national flag being painted on the roof by TikTok user Le Quang Vu. This video currently has over 3 million views. And many people are also excited to join in the wall painting to celebrate the upcoming September 2nd holiday.
Mural painting of Uncle Ho's portrait
Inspired, Mr. Pham Xuan Ngoc (26 years old, in Hanoi ) immediately "transformed" the 20m2 wall of the village cultural house in his hometown Tuyen Quang into a portrait of Uncle Ho on a red flag with a yellow star.
The painting also features a map of the country with the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. As a mural artist, he wanted to do something to beautify his homeland.
Ngoc shared: “I was also worried that if I made a mistake, it would ruin the solemnity of the painting, so I researched carefully, designed it first, and then presented the idea to the local authorities before starting work. Luckily, my idea was very well supported.”
Ngoc completed the painting in 5 hours. During the process, he and his assistants were always in a state of anxiety due to the weather. So, as soon as the painting was finished, they used a hair dryer to dry it, and even prepared a canvas and were ready to cover it at any time.
“For me, this is a very meaningful trend. Through this small painting, I want to spread patriotism to everyone. Especially young people should learn more about the country's history,” the mural author said with a smile.

Meaningful trend
Ms. Dang Ha Trang (27 years old, in Hanoi) said she responded to this "most meaningful trend of the year" by drawing the national flag in front of the gate, near the house number plate.
Ms. Trang shared that she saw many friends painting the national flag on their roofs and rolling doors and also wanted to paint a big flag on the roof. However, because she could not climb high, she decided to paint a small national flag on the wall in front of her house.
According to Ms. Trang, born and raised in peace, when drawing the national flag, she was very proud of being Vietnamese. "Although it may be just a trend, I personally feel that the spirit of solidarity of our people is very high. I believe that everyone has love for their homeland and country in their hearts," Ms. Trang said.
La Thi Hang (21 years old, living in Da Lat city) chose to paint the national flag right in front of the office gate. Hang and her colleagues took advantage of the rectangular stone block available on the column with the standard size of the Vietnamese flag and then worked together to paint it, creating the national flag on it.
Quickly completing the flag, the young girl expressed: “When I saw the videos and images responding to this trend, I was very touched. I hope the trend will continue to spread more widely so that international friends will know more about a Vietnam that is very united and has a high national spirit.”
