“Stepping stone” to realize ideas
In recent years, universities in Da Nang city have paid attention to organizing activities and conferences for students to conduct scientific research. From these school-level scientific research playgrounds, many practical topics have been nurtured and developed into feasible projects and startup models.
According to Chairman of the Board of Dong A University Luong Minh Sam, scientific research and innovative startups are regular activities aimed at developing academics, scientific thinking, and startups among students. Students participating in scientific research competitions is a “stepping stone” for highly applicable ideas and topics to be transformed into innovative projects and startup products.
Recently, Dong A University summarized and awarded 23 highly applicable topics in the Science - Technology - Health, Economics - Society, and Language councils at the 11th Student Scientific Research Competition in 2025.
Many topics are products with practical applications, serving the community and have the potential to develop into high-potential start-up projects, such as the topic "Research and development of cream containing Curcumin 95% and Vitamin E using laboratory-scale emulsification techniques to create products with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities"; the topic "Research on the development and application of HPLC method to quantify methylparaben preservatives in gel-based pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations in Vietnam"...
Recently, member universities of Danang University held a university-level scientific research conference for students. Many excellent topics were awarded by the schools and selected for development to participate in larger-scale competitions.
Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Principal of the University of Economics (University of Danang) said that the student scientific research conference is a prestigious academic playground, contributing to discovering and nurturing talents, promoting students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving ability and nurturing the desire for in-depth scientific research.
Through academic playgrounds, the school aims to comprehensively develop students' research capacity. In addition, the school also increases investment in research and training infrastructure; invests in developing infrastructure and scientific resources such as the FiinPro data system, Turnitin software, online libraries, practice rooms, research rooms; strengthens business connections for students to access research practices; organizes training courses on effective scientific research methods.
“Through scientific research, students will gain experience, practice critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, report writing and presenting research ideas. This will be valuable knowledge to help students continue to develop topics at a higher level and effectively apply them to future work,” Associate Professor, Dr. Phi Anh shared.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Principal of the University of Foreign Languages (University of Danang) said that scientific research plays a special role in improving the quality of training, discovering and nurturing young talents, while creating a creative academic environment for students, creating opportunities to practice critical thinking skills, presentation, scientific criticism, teamwork, etc.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Long, the number of students participating in scientific research increases every year, showing that scientific research has become an attractive intellectual playground.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Vice President of Danang University, in recent years, the student scientific research movement at Danang University has developed strongly, showing the serious attention and investment of member universities. The schools build a creative academic environment.
In 2024, students of member universities of the University of Danang won more than 250 awards through scientific research and innovative startups. Of which, at the city-level and ministry-level student scientific research competitions, the University of Danang had 27 award-winning topics.
