At dawn, many boats from Long Thuy fishing village docked one after another, fishermen were busy bringing fresh fish and shrimp back to the mainland after a night at sea to make a living.
Long Thuy is a small fishing village located about 10km south of Tuy Hoa City ( Phu Yen ).
People here mainly live by fishing and shrimping at sea.
The sun had just "risen", and boats, big and small, in Long Thuy lined up to reach the shore.
Most of these boats fish close to shore. Most of the boats set sail at 5pm the previous day, but some fishermen choose to set sail at 3am.
Fishing methods and times vary, but at around 5:30 a.m., fishermen are busy bringing fresh fish and shrimp back to the mainland after many hours of making a living at sea.
Going offshore at 3am, Mr. Dien and his wife (in Long Thuy) only brought back to shore more than 5kg of sea perch, along with a few barracudas.
"My boat is small, so my wife and I only go fishing about 5km from shore. At night, we catch more than ten kilos, but when we lose, we either catch less or return empty-handed. Today, we only brought back 5 kilos of fish to shore, selling it for 200,000 VND, enough to buy rice and fish sauce to feed our family," Mr. Dien said happily.
Luckily, Nguyen Van Minh's boat hit a school of anchovies and caught 20kg.
"Anchovies are fresh and delicious, so buyers really like them, so the price is 100,000 VND/kg. Last night, my boat and 3 workers earned more than 2 million, after deducting expenses, each person got 600,000 VND" - Mr. Minh shared.
Traders wait on the shore to buy fresh fish from Long Thuy people's boats and bring them to town to sell for profit.
"Every day at 5am, I'm here to start buying from fishermen. They have a place to sell, and I transport them to the city to earn extra money. Because they are caught close to shore, the fish in Long Thuy is very fresh and is popular with buyers," said Ms. Oanh, a fish buyer.
After selling the fish, some people quickly bring their fishing gear home to dry, others untangle their nets to prepare for a new trip to sea.
