During the fierce war years, when every inch of Vinh Linh land was hit by hundreds of bombs every day, the people of Vinh Moc village still did not leave the village, did not abandon their land. Instead, they chose to dig deep into the ground to survive, to “stick to the land, keep the village” until the end.
In 1965, the tunnels were built by the locals and the tools to create deep tunnels underground were completely with hoes, shovels and bare hands. After more than 1 year with the contribution of dozens of households in the village, Vinh Moc tunnels were completed and became a shelter for more than 300 people.
The path leading to the tunnels is lined with cool green bamboo groves.

The tunnel system is nearly 2 km long, divided into three levels 12 - 23 m deep, strong enough to withstand even penetration bombs. Inside the tunnels there are rooms, wells, maternity homes, medical stations and even a hall... creating such a large-scale "underground village" demonstrates the extraordinary organizational ability and will to survive of the people of Vinh Moc.
Vinh Moc tunnels are of great interest to foreign tourists as they offer many interesting experiences.
