Sinh Ton Island infirmary treats fisherman with broken bones

On the afternoon of June 14, Sinh Ton Island Infirmary (Brigade 146, Naval Region 4) received emergency treatment for a Quang Nam fisherman with a broken kneecap.

It is known that the fisherman in distress is named Pham Van Minh (born in 1985, from Binh Minh, Thanh Binh, Quang Nam ), a crew member on fishing boat QN 95489 TS, owned by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thanh.

Previously, while working on the ship, Mr. Pham Van Minh slipped and fell, hitting his right knee on the wooden floor, causing excruciating pain and making it impossible for him to stand up. The patient received first aid and was taken to the island.

Through examination and X-ray, the doctor determined: Right patella fracture, large displaced fragment 3cm, large amount of knee joint hematoma, severe prognosis, early surgery required. The infirmary performed surgery, aspirated fluid, fixed with plaster splint and continued monitoring and treatment at the island infirmary.

Since the beginning of 2025, Sinh Ton Island's military medical force has provided emergency treatment to 12 cases of fishermen in distress at sea, of which 3 serious cases had to be transferred to a higher level.

Military medical work on the island not only contributes to protecting the health and lives of fishermen, but also demonstrates the spirit of "military and people with one will", contributing to maintaining sovereignty and peace at sea.
