According to Carscoops , Elon Musk has publicly stated that the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck will, at some point in the near future, be able to temporarily function as a boat.
Although it's unclear how likely this statement from the Tesla CEO is to come true, many Cybertruck owners are still eager to test the Wade Mode feature, also known as the vehicle's wading mode.
In the video posted on Instagram, things seem to start off quite smoothly. The driver successfully maneuvered the electric pickup truck around the shallow waters near the shore of Lake Grapevine, Texas (USA).
However, the driver then drove the vehicle into deeper water. The electric pickup truck began to malfunction as a road vehicle, and certainly couldn't be transformed into a boat.
The Grapevine Police Department said the electric pickup truck's engine had stopped working and water was flooding inside. The driver and passengers had evacuated the vehicle. The Grapevine Fire Department's underwater rescue team later assisted in retrieving the Tesla Cybertruck from the lake.
The Carscoops website noted that police did not specify the time and manpower required to retrieve the electric pickup truck. The video shows that it was still daylight when the driver began to lower the Tesla Cybertruck into the water, but by the time the rescue vehicle lifted the electric pickup truck out of the lake, the surrounding area had turned dark.

Police said they arrested the driver of the Cybertruck on charges including operating the vehicle in a restricted area of the park or lake, in addition to a series of violations regarding waterway safety equipment.
"While a vehicle may be physically capable of entering shallow waters, doing so could raise safety concerns under Texas state law," the police noted.
This isn't the first time a Tesla Cybertruck owner has tried using the electric pickup truck like a boat underwater.
Last March, an electric Cybertruck pickup truck was found submerged in water in Ventura Harbor, California. The driver and passenger managed to escape through the windows.
Regarding this incident, Edhat reported that a Tesla engineer was also present at the scene. Through inspections, the engineer confirmed that the electric pickup truck could be towed away by a tow truck without any concerns about secondary problems with the battery or electrical system.
