Mr. Truong Cong Quang - Deputy Director in charge of the Center for Development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs of Quang Nam said that the center is managing and taking care of about 262 thousand Ngoc Linh ginseng plants of many years old at Tra Linh Medicinal Herbs Station. Most of the ginseng is 2 years old or older, including the accumulated number of received tables and newly planted in recent years. This is the garden of Ngoc Linh ginseng with original seeds to serve the work of preserving and developing quality seedlings to supply to people and businesses for planting according to the policies and orientations of the province.
Currently, the area of Ngoc Linh ginseng garden at Tra Linh Medicinal Plant Station has been expanded from 7.5 hectares to 50.25 hectares according to the Decision approving the Forest Environment Leasing Plan of the Provincial People's Committee.
In addition, the Quang Nam Center for Development of Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs also transplanted Ngoc Linh ginseng to the districts of Bac Tra My, Tay Giang, Nam Giang, Phuoc Son, Nui Thanh and Tien Phuoc. The total number of 1-year-old Ngoc Linh ginseng plants provided to the districts for planting according to the experimental transplant model from 2021 and 2022 is 8,000 plants. Currently, the center is coordinating with localities and units to continue monitoring to evaluate the implementation results in the coming time.
At the meeting, the staff of the Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Plant Development Center of Quang Nam proposed that relevant sectors strictly handle cases of importing and bringing fake ginseng seedlings, not native ginseng, to grow in the area. At the same time, there should be policies to invest in infrastructure for seedling production, infrastructure to protect Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens of original varieties; and to increase income for staff of Tra Linh Medicinal Plant Station.
Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested the Quang Nam Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs Development Center to focus on implementing the Vietnam Ginseng Program approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 611 dated June 1, 2023; carry out the task of preserving the genetic resources of Ngoc Linh ginseng. At the same time, he requested the Department of Finance to provide specific instructions for the Quang Nam Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herbs Development Center to implement a financial autonomy mechanism so that officers and employees can ensure their lives and work with peace of mind.
On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet presented gifts to encourage officers and employees of Tra Linh Medicinal Plant Station.
