According to reports, a stretch of coastline hundreds of meters long in Tan Thanh neighborhood (Hoi An Tay ward) has been severely damaged by waves, creating deep cavities that are causing concern for residents and local authorities.
Along the coastal area parallel to Nguyen Phan Vinh road, erosion has encroached deep inland, creating vertical cliffs, some reaching 4-5 meters in height, bordering the business areas of local residents.
To protect the beach, local residents and authorities have implemented various temporary solutions using bamboo stakes, sandbags, and coconut fiber mats. However, these temporary embankments have proven ineffective and have even suffered severe damage due to large waves and strong winds.
According to local residents, the recent heavy rains washed away a large amount of sand, leading to unusually rapid erosion compared to previous years. Without long-term embankment measures, the erosion and landslides will become even more severe during the rainy season.

Mr. Phung Tan Luc (a resident of Tan Thanh neighborhood) said that the erosion has been occurring for many years. However, recently, the erosion has begun to encroach further inland, causing anxiety among businesses along the coast.
"Despite temporary reinforcement with bamboo stakes and sandbags, erosion continues and is becoming increasingly serious. In some sections, the waves have eroded the land by 4-8 meters, just a few steps away from our restaurant. We hope the authorities will find a solution to address this, so that people can feel secure in their businesses and tourists can be assured of safety," said Mr. Phung Tan Luc.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Bui Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay Ward, said that regarding the above issue, Hoi An Tay Ward has submitted a report to the People's Committee of Da Nang City and the Department of Agriculture and Environment for timely handling.
In addition, the People's Committee of the ward also directed agencies and units to disseminate information and remind households and businesses in the Tan Thanh area to ensure the safety of tourists and prevent them from accessing the landslide area.
At the same time, erect barriers and warning tapes at dangerous locations, and regularly monitor landslide developments to promptly implement response measures, such as mobilizing reinforcement forces or relocating residents when the situation becomes complicated.
