These days, the water level of the Cai Co River is rising, overflowing the dike section in Hamlet 3, Khanh Hung Commune. It is estimated that the water level will continue to rise rapidly, threatening a 300-meter section of the dike. The floodwaters from the river are inundating rice fields, affecting nearly 100 hectares of rice paddies. After receiving information from the people, the Ben Pho Border Guard Post, in coordination with the local authorities and the Khanh Hung Commune Military Command, deployed forces, equipment, and materials to respond urgently. Officers and soldiers used stakes, waterproof nylon tarpaulins, and sandbags filled with soil to block the water flow and reinforce the dike. After more than 8 hours immersed in floodwaters and harsh weather, the dike section has been raised, initially preventing water from flooding the production area. At the same time, at other vulnerable locations, officers and soldiers continue to coordinate with the local authorities and people to reinforce and raise the dike surface, ensuring safety along the entire dike.

During this time, the Long Khot Border Guard Post, in coordination with local authorities and the militia of Khanh Hung commune, helped people in the flooded areas harvest rice and other crops, transport them, and reinforce and secure their houses. Officers and soldiers worked tirelessly without rest, fearing the rising water would continue to rise. After four days, with the assistance of the officers and soldiers of the Long Khot Border Guard Post, some fields in the low-lying areas were harvested, and the rice was transported to higher, safer ground.

In Thanh Tay hamlet, Dong Thanh commune, Tay Ninh province, rising water levels overflowed the dike, flooding approximately 6,000 square meters of red-fleshed jackfruit and ripening tangerines belonging to Mr. Cao Hoang Son's family. When the incident occurred, the My Thanh Tay Border Guard Post, in coordination with the Dong Thanh Commune Military Command, deployed forces to promptly assist the family in repairing the damage and reinforcing the dike to prevent further flooding. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Nam, Political Officer of the My Thanh Tay Border Guard Post, stated: “After receiving reports from local residents about the risk of dike breaches and overflows, the Post quickly deployed forces to the scene, coordinating with local authorities, the military, and residents to reinforce the dike. The unit will continue to monitor the situation with the local Party committee, authorities, and relevant functional forces, and be ready to provide support to ensure the safety of agricultural production for the people during the rainy and stormy days.”
Currently, the entire area at risk of dike breach has been firmly reinforced by officers and soldiers of the My Thanh Tay Border Guard Post and the Commune Military Command, along with Mr. Cao Hoang Son's family and local residents, using concrete piles, trees, B40 mesh, and sandbags filled with soil, raising it 80cm above the current water level.
Helping people reinforce dikes and save rice crops - border guards demonstrate their pioneering role in disaster prevention and control, rescue and relief, always accompanying and standing side-by-side with the people in all circumstances, thereby contributing to strengthening the solidarity and close bond between the military and the people.
