Ministry of Education and Training revises History and Geography curriculum from grades 4 to 9

(Dan Tri) - The promulgation of the revised History and Geography curriculum from grades 4 to 9 will be the basis for considering revising textbooks for these subjects to suit the new administrative boundaries of Vietnam.

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the change of administrative boundaries and the implementation of a two-level government directly affects the curriculum of four subjects: History and Geography from grades 4 to 9, Geography grade 12, History grade 10 and Economic and Legal Education grade 10.

Therefore, the revision of the curriculum of these subjects must be carried out to ensure scientific and practical nature.

For the Geography sub-subject in History and Geography, the Ministry will revise and supplement the curriculum for grades 4, 5, 8, 9 and the Geography subject in grade 12.

The Ministry will revise the curriculum content of History and Geography subjects for grades 4-9, History for grade 10 and Geography for grade 12 (Illustration: Huyen Nguyen).

The main revisions are on socio -economic regions such as regional boundaries; names and number of provinces and cities, area size and population of the region; economic development resources and the development and distribution of economic sectors in socio-economic regions; administrative maps; population maps, maps of sectors and economic regions in Vietnam.

For the History subject in History and Geography, revise and supplement the content of periodization according to European history in grade 7, revise the content of periodization of the renovation process in Vietnam from 1986 to present in grade 9.

For History subject grade 10, revise and supplement the selected study topic "Vietnamese State and Law in History".

For the subject of Economic and Legal Education, the Ministry will amend and supplement the 10th grade curriculum in the topics of the Political System of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Ministry will receive comments from the Departments of Education and Training before August 8.

The issuance of the Circular amending and supplementing the General Education Program is the legal basis for considering and revising textbooks for the above subjects.
