Ministry of Education advises 17 provinces and cities to consider closing schools to avoid storm No. 4

On September 19, the Ministry of Education and Training sent a telegram to the directors of the Departments of Education and Training of 17 provinces and cities, including Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh , Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa about proactively responding to storms and floods.

Accordingly, in order to be proactive and flexible in responding to the storm, ensuring absolute safety for students, teachers and staff in the education sector, the Minister of Education and Training requested the directors of the Departments of Education and Training of the above provinces and cities to closely monitor the storm's developments, be on duty 24/7; regularly update information from functional agencies, rescue forces and local authorities to have timely response plans.

Units should develop plans to move assets, machinery, equipment, and furniture to safe places, ensuring that they are not damaged or broken. Ensure that schools and educational institutions do not organize extracurricular activities in coastal areas and areas at risk of being affected by storms.

Local authorities should consider allowing students to take time off from school when necessary, especially in areas vulnerable to storms and floods. At the same time, ensure that information about school schedules and student safety is fully communicated to parents.

Immediately after the storm, organize cleaning of schools, repair damage to facilities, ensure safety and hygiene before welcoming students back to school.

According to forecasts, early this afternoon, September 19, the center of storm No. 4 (Soulik) will make landfall in the provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Tri. In the North Central and Central Central regions, there will continue to be heavy to very heavy rain this afternoon and tonight.
