That journey was formed from national youth tournaments to the initial step of creating a playground to compete with international athletes.

Vietnamese Taekwondo also won a bronze medal in the men's team event at the 2018 Jakarta ASIAD and two bronze medals at the 2023 Hangzhou ASIAD, gradually affirming its position as a Taekwondo powerhouse in Asia.
Since 2019, CJ has organized an annual tournament called "National Youth Taekwondo Championship - CJ" to search for and nurture a generation of promising young athletes, expanding the development foundation of this sport in Vietnam.
Increase competition opportunities for Vietnamese athletes through international G1 tournaments
This year, CJ goes one step further - raising its commitment to accompany and improve the quality of Vietnamese Taekwondo by sponsoring the organization of the first "CJ International Taekwondo Open" (CJ Vietnam Open) in Vietnam.
The G1 Taekwondo tournament became a special milestone when it gathered 112 athletes from 13 countries. This created an opportunity for athletes to compete in the international arena, as well as enhance the martial spirit that Korea - the homeland of Taekwondo - and CJ want to spread to lovers of this martial art.

G1 level tournaments are a launching pad for athletes to accumulate world ranking points, creating a premise to participate in major sporting events such as ASIAD and the Olympics. The “CJ International Taekwondo Open” tournament not only helps athletes gain practical experience, but also contributes to raising the position of Vietnamese Taekwondo on the world sports map.
Notably, the Hanoi women's team (directly coached by coach Kim Gil-tae - who was sent by CJ since 2017) won 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals at the tournament. Notable names include Truong Thi Kim Tuyen (49 kg), Tran Thi Anh Tuyet (57 kg), Bac Thi Khiem (67 kg) won gold medals, Pham Ngoc Cham (57 kg) and Tran Nguyen Anh Ngan (73 kg) won silver medals.

The entire Vietnamese delegation ended the tournament with a total of 14 medals (7 men, 7 women) - an impressive result, affirming the remarkable progress of Vietnamese Taekwondo.
In the coming time, CJ commits to continue accompanying the national team towards the goal of winning medals at the 2026 ASIAD Aichi-Nagoya and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, through activities such as developing potential athletes, organizing international tournaments in Vietnam, training high-quality coaches and expanding international exchange opportunities.
