According to the report of the Department of Education and Training, in recent times, STEM education has received attention and direction from all levels with many diverse and practical forms. Right from the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, the department has issued documents guiding the integration of STEM education into school programs, implemented specialized training, built pilot models and gradually spread to all 231 kindergartens in the province. Through there, 100% of schools have integrated STEM education content into their educational plans and organized STEM-based lessons. In addition, many units have boldly invested in building STEM learning corners, maximizing natural materials, utilizing outdoor spaces, and creating a friendly and creative learning environment for children.
During the survey, representatives of preschools in the province shared the advantages and difficulties in organizing STEM activities. Many facilities reported a lack of specialized classrooms, modern equipment, and limited funding for investment in learning materials, especially in disadvantaged areas. The opinions suggested that the Ministry of Education and Training focus on the following contents: promptly develop in-depth guidance documents on STEM education at preschool level; organize in-depth training and build a shared learning material repository for localities to refer to and apply; and have policies to support investment in equipment and learning materials for mountainous areas.
Speaking at the working session, the head of the working delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training acknowledged the efforts of the provincial education sector in implementing STEM education at preschool level, especially in promoting existing advantages to organize experiential activities for children. The delegation requested that units continue to be proactive and creative in organizing STEM teaching; make the most of local materials, combine with subjects to implement close and practical topics. The opinions and recommendations of the unit will be compiled for the Ministry of Education and Training to review, direct and issue appropriate guidance documents in the coming time.
