After more than 11 years of deploying forces to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations, Vietnam has had nearly 1,200 military personnel participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations aims to consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, contributing significantly to the success of the Party and State's foreign affairs and defense diplomacy.

Those who have not been considered for a commemorative medal include individuals who have violated the law and whose discipline is under review and pending processing. Individuals who have been disciplined by the Party or government from a warning or higher level will only be considered for a commemorative medal after the disciplinary period has expired.
