Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that activities related toeducation and training are an important part of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training recognizes its great responsibility and role in caring for and promoting this cooperative relationship.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that the two sides have closely coordinated in effectively implementing the Project "Improving the quality and effectiveness of Vietnam - Laos cooperation in the field of education and human resource development in the period of 2021-2030". 2025 is an important milestone, summarizing 5 years of implementing this Project.

The two sides are also coordinating to strictly implement the Training Cooperation Protocol between the Vietnamese and Lao Governments on regulations related to admission standards for international students and implementing measures to improve training quality. “The authorities of the two countries need to consider creating favorable conditions for Lao and Vietnamese students, including those with scholarships under the Agreement and outside the Agreement, to be exempted from visa fees and temporary residence cards when studying in the two countries,” Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son requested the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports to provide more information about Lao students so that Vietnam can make the best preparations, and at the same time consider making Vietnamese an optional subject in the high school graduation exam in Laos; and introduce Vietnamese textbooks compiled by Vietnam into teaching at schools with the need and conditions to teach Vietnamese in Laos.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son also said that the Ministry of Education and Training is preparing conditions to make Lao one of the eight foreign languages ​​taught in Vietnamese schools; initially, it will be piloted for students in border areas, then, when there are enough teachers, it will be expanded.

The Minister also hopes that Laos will continue to support, especially in matters related to textbooks, language teaching, teacher training, and the implementation of the project "Including the content of historical works on the special relations between Vietnam - Laos and Laos - Vietnam into teaching in schools of the two countries".
