Information and Communication sector development situation in the first quarter of 2024
Postal:
-In the first quarter of 2024, the output of postal items is estimated to reach 505 million postal items , an increase of over 47% over the same period in 2023; postal service revenue is estimated to reach 11,250 billion VND, an increase of 28.57% over the same period in 2023.
Telecommunications:
As of February 2024:
- The rate of households using fiber optic cable reached 80.1%, an increase of 4.6% over the same period in 2023 (75.5%)
- Number of smartphone subscribers reached 100.7 million subscribers, up 1.2% over the same period (99.5 million subscribers);
- The number of mobile broadband subscribers reached 89.78 million subscribers (equivalent to 90.27 subscribers/100 people), up 6.4% over the same period (84.36 million subscribers).
National digital transformation
- Deploying Community Digital Technology Teams (CNSCĐ): 100% of provinces and cities across the country have established CNSCĐ Teams in each village, residential group, residential area, hamlet, and residential hamlet with 81,415 Teams and nearly 400,000 members , of which 55/63 provinces and cities have completed 100% to the commune level.
- From January 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications hosted 12 training courses on digital transformation on the Mass Open Online Learning Platform MOOCS (https://onetouch.mic.gov.vn (OneTouch Platform) for 66,500 officials, civil servants, and public employees in charge of digital transformation of ministries, branches, localities, corporations, state-owned corporations, news agencies, and newspapers nationwide.
+ Deploying a training program for 500 digital transformation experts of ministries, branches and localities on the MOOCS platform.
+ Organize training on digital transformation for nearly 172,000 members of the Community Digital Technology Group in 22/63 localities;
+ Providing 20 digital skills popularization courses for people on the MOOCS Platform, there have been nearly 24 million people accessing the digital skills popularization courses.
Digital Government :
- The rate of fully qualified Online Public Services (ODS) reaches 100%.
- As of February 20, 2024:
+ Rate of public services (over total public services): 81.12%;
+ Rate of full-process public services (out of total public services): 48.28%;
+ The rate of online application process reached 37.19%;
50 provinces have issued policies to reduce fees and charges; 13 provinces have issued policies to reduce processing time to encourage people to use public services.
Network security:
In the first quarter of 2024 (up to the end of February 2024):
- Revenue from the network information security sector is estimated at VND 804 billion , an increase of 46.8% over the same period in 2023 (VND 548 billion).
- State budget contribution is estimated at 41 billion VND , an increase of 28.7% over the same period in 2023 (31.8 billion VND).
- Profit: 54 billion VND , up 22.72% over the same period in 2023 (44 billion VND).
- Cyber attacks were 1,812 , down 38% compared to the same period in 2023 (2,921 attacks).
Digital Economy:
- Program to support small and medium enterprises in digital transformation:
+ Number of businesses accessing the Program: 1,134,884 ;
+ Number of SME businesses using the Program's platform: 302,096 businesses.
Digital Society:
- Vietnam has 06 mobile applications with over 10 million users (Zalo, Zing Mp3, Bao Moi, Vi MoMo, VnEID and MB Bank); 11 applications have 5-10 million users.
+VnEID and VSSID continue to be the two national digital platforms built by state agencies to make it into this top.
+ Zalo is in the list of 200 applications with the largest number of users in the world.
Digital technology industry
- Total IT industry revenue in the first 2 months of 2024: reached about 598 trillion VND (~ 24.4 billion USD), up 25% over the same period in 2023.
- Export value of hardware and electronic products: reached over 20.9 billion USD , up 21.8% over the same period in 2023, accounting for about 33% of the country's export value.
Press, publishing, media
- Pay TV subscribers: As of February 2024, the number of subscribers is estimated at 17.2 million , an increase of 3% over the same period last year.
- Pay TV revenue: As of February 2024, service revenue (including VAT) is estimated at VND 1,646 billion , up 1.86% over the same period last year.
- Results from January 1, 2024 to the end of February 2024:
+ Facebook has blocked and removed more than 1,100 posts with anti-Party and anti-State content and 111 violating accounts (92%).
+ Google has removed 1,069 violating videos and blocked access to 02 channels with anti-Party and anti-State content containing nearly 5,000 violating videos (91% rate).
- TikTok has blocked and removed 27 violating accounts (91% rate).
- As of February 2024, publishing sector revenue: reaches 1,230 billion VND
+ Printing sector revenue: 11,333 billion VND
+Publishing sector revenue: 780 billion VND
