I strongly support schools to stop recruiting students based on academic records, for the following two reasons:
Firstly, the quality ofeducational facilities is uneven. Due to many objective conditions, the quality of training in localities is different. Remote and mountainous localities cannot have the same quality of education as big provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang, etc.
Students in provinces and cities have a tradition of good learning, have access to adequate books, and have many good teachers. Therefore, higher levels of achievement, even at the same grade level, are obvious and indisputable.
The scores in the report cards of students from different localities are very different, regardless of the results in the report cards. A score of 10 of students in places with lower quality education cannot be compared with a score of 7 or 8 of places with high quality education. Because the grading of teachers and schools is not unified, each person and each place has a different "three rem", so how can we ensure the fairness of the quality between the scores in the report cards.
Not only is there a difference in the quality of education between localities, but even within a locality, the quality of training between educational institutions is also different. Famous schools have higher quality than other schools, schools in the inner city are different from schools in the suburbs, this reality must be acknowledged by everyone. Only then does the situation of parents rushing to find schools and classes for their children occur.
The second reason is that there is a negative situation, running for grades, and making up academic records to have the opportunity to get into university.
There are still negatives that exist, even in the field of education. Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees can still be bought and sold, let alone high school students' grades.
When schools recruit students based on academic records, the negative aspects of buying and selling grades to improve academic records will increase and become very difficult to control. At that time, the quality of training and the assessment of students' qualifications will become more difficult and inaccurate, which is very dangerous.
Top universities such as National Economics University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Medical University... do not recruit students based on academic records but use entrance exams to ensure fairness and high quality input.
University admission based on academic records is for all students nationwide, but uneven education quality will not ensure fairness among candidates. It is necessary to abolish it!
