Ministry of Health investigates case of 4-year-old girl suspected of abuse

The incident occurred at a kindergarten in Bo De ward (Hanoi) when the girl's mother discovered many bruises on her child's body after coming home from school, so she called Hotline 111 - Counseling and Communication Services Center, Department of Mothers and Children, Ministry of Health to help protect the child's rights.

On July 11, the Department of Mothers and Children quickly reported on a suspected case of child abuse in a preschool in Bo De ward.

Accordingly, on July 8, Ms. HKT (born in 1997), residing in Bo De ward, called Hotline 111 to report that her child, TKL (born in 2021), studying at Gia Thuy Kindergarten, was beaten with a whip, thrown against the wall, punched and kicked with her feet and hands, and dragged towards the classroom door by teacher TTV (born in 1979). In addition, teacher V also grabbed the feet of another child and threw him upside down on the bed.

After the incident, the family took the girl to the National Children's Hospital for examination. She is now home, in a state of panic and does not want to go to school. According to the leader of the Department of Mothers and Children, immediately after receiving the information, the National Child Protection Hotline 111 contacted the Social Work Center and the Hanoi Children's Support Fund to request verification of the information and implementation of measures to ensure safety, support and intervention for children according to regulations.

According to verification by the Social Work Center and the Hanoi Children's Fund, the school has suspended two teachers, TTV and NTTH, to serve the investigation.

Bo De Ward Police have received and coordinated with the medical facility to request an assessment and verify the case. At the same time, they have prepared a file and coordinated with the Criminal Techniques Department (Hanoi Police) and the People's Procuracy of Region 5 to clarify the case.

According to initial results, the child has bruises on his back. An examination has been requested and the results are pending; the child's mental and physical health are currently stable.

The Department of Mothers and Children has instructed local officials to coordinate with local authorities to continue monitoring and providing support and intervention according to regulations for children who have suffered violence, and to immediately connect with Hotline 111 if they encounter difficulties, problems or need support and advice.

At the same time, continue to monitor information about the incident to promptly direct, guide, support, and intervene for child victims and handle the incident according to the provisions of law.
