The class was attended by 18 students, including reporters and editors from media agencies in the Southern region. Journalist Dao Thi Hong Linh from the VOV National Traffic Radio Department of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) taught the course.

The students discussed the differences between traditional radio programs and podcasts.

In the context of the ever-evolving digital media landscape, news and media organizations are facing numerous revenue challenges. Solutions such as developing websites, mobile applications, tablet versions, focusing on video , and organizing events are all being considered to optimize revenue streams.

Podcasts have proven to be a powerful tool for both audiences and advertisers, creating an effective and highly personalized marketing channel that allows brands to easily connect with listeners.

The trainees exchanged script content to create a podcast product.

In class, everyone discussed the differences between podcasts and traditional radio programs. Podcasts are understood as digital audio files distributed over the internet, allowing users to listen online or download them to personal devices such as computers, phones, and tablets.

Compared to traditional radio programs, podcasts offer flexibility, allowing listeners to actively choose the time and content; a high degree of personalization, catering to the preferences and needs of each listener; and non-fixed podcast production lengths, allowing producers creative freedom in content creation.

Journalist Dao Thi Hong Linh presents certificates to the trainees.

Applying their knowledge to practice, the trainees produced several podcast products: Green Cities – Signs of the Future; How to Raise Children in the Past? Duyen's Story; Following Food Reviews; Young People in Journalism; Increasing Kidney Failure in Young People – What Are the Causes?

Through each product, the instructor pointed out the advantages and disadvantages in the layout of a podcast; things to keep in mind when using AI voiceovers; how to insert music and sound effects in an engaging way; and the interaction between guests and the host…

The idea of podcasts emerged in 2001, but it wasn't until 2014 that podcasts truly took off and the first episodes were produced on a large scale. Since then, podcasts have become an indispensable part of the digital media ecosystem, attracting millions of listeners worldwide. Current forms of journalistic podcasts are diverse, including storytelling, conversations, interviews, and narrative news.
