Defeating defending runner-up India 3-0 on the evening of June 24 in Indonesia, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the right to enter the final of the AVC Challenge Cup 2023 and moved closer to a ticket to the world cup.
Against the current runner-up India (ranked 60th in the world) in the semi-finals of the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup (a tournament for mid-level teams in Asia), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team (ranked 49th in the world) surprisingly entered the field with players who had not played regularly in previous matches. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team still dominated the game and won with a score of 25-17 in set 1.

In the second set, the mainstay Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was given a break but the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to win 25-18. In the third set, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team started well but showed signs of running out of steam, allowing the Indian team to take the lead 13-11. However, the mainstays Thanh Thuy and Lam Oanh were sent on to play well, helping the home team win 25-21, thereby winning 3-0 overall.
With the above result, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has won the right to enter the final of the AVC Challenge Cup 2023 to meet host Indonesia at 7:00 p.m. on June 25. At the 32nd SEA Games, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team had defeated this opponent with a score of 3-2. If they defeat Indonesia in the final, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will win the right to participate in the 2023 Women's Volleyball Challenge World Cup.
