Bui Quynh Hoa crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2023

Bui Quynh Hoa, 25 years old, from Hanoi , won the crown of Miss Universe Vietnam 2023, on the evening of September 29.

She received the crown called Life in the Sunrise by author Duong Hoai Anh, worth 2.1 billion VND, and also won a place in the 72nd Miss Universe competition, held in El Salvador in November. Quynh Hoa was commented by the judges to have all the elements of beauty, body, catwalk skills, interview skills, and foreign languages. She is 1.75 m tall, with three measurements of 86-60-93 cm.

Throughout the competition night, the audience continuously cheered for the beauty. The beauty maintained a stable performance from the beginning to the end of the competition, shining in the final night after passing the rounds in Vietnamese and English.

In the top 3's response, when asked: "What do you think is a confident beauty?", Quynh Hoa said: "Confidence is the wonderful beauty of a woman, when she believes in herself to become the leader of her own life, she will always be ready to honor the success of others. Be a winner without arrogance, loser without "snobbishness" because failure is the mother of success, be someone who always stands up after past failures to train herself to become better. I believe in myself, that's why I'm here today. I believe that we deserve great things."

Quynh Hoa previously participated in Miss Ao Dai Vietnam World 2017, Miss Sea Vietnam Global 2018, and won the gold medal at Vietnam Supermodel 2018. In 2022, she registered for Miss Universe Vietnam, finishing in the top 10. In September of the same year, she won the International Supermodel contest, held in Thailand.

The beauty queen also worked as a reality TV coach for Miss International Queen Vietnam, Miss Earth Vietnam 2023, and a judge for Super Model International Philippines 2023. In addition to modeling, she also runs a business in Ho Chi Minh City. According to Quynh Hoa, she has accumulated a solid financial foundation to invest in herself in beauty contests.

Huong Ly won the title of first runner-up. She is 28 years old, from Gia Lai , 1.76 m tall, with measurements of 83-62-95 cm. The beauty was the champion of Vietnam's Next Top Model 2015, and has been a professional model for many years. Huong Ly has a lot of experience in performing, having competed in Miss Universe Vietnam three times. In the sub-competition, she entered the top 5 of Miss Sea. According to judge Phuong Mai, this time, Huong Ly overcame her weakness in foreign languages ​​- the reason why she stopped in the top 5 of last year's competition.

Second runner-up Trinh Thi Hong Dang has maintained her form since the beginning of the contest. The 29-year-old beauty, born in Moscow (Russia), is 1.71 m tall, with measurements of 86-60-91 cm. She graduated from university in the US, majoring in financial and real estate risk analysis, and worked as a personal asset management intern for Francis Financial (New York). In 2018, she returned to Russia to take over her family's culinary business. After overcoming breast cancer, she became a mental health coach.

The remaining three faces of the Top 6 are Emma Le, Pham Thi Anh Thu, Lydie Vu. Some viewers regret that outstanding contestants such as Le Nam, H Duyen B'krong, Mai Phuong Thao did not make it to the next round.

The show lasted three hours, the most tedious part was the announcement of the contestants for the next round. Some viewers thought that the organizers wanted to create excitement, but the extension of the duration made many people tired. The contestants went through the swimsuit, evening gown, and behavioral rounds (top 6 and top 3). The organizers created a highlight with a rap performance by Mai Ngo and dancer My My.

After the national costume performance, the organizers announced the secondary awards: Miss Media Nguyen Thi Le Nam, Miss Inspiration Mai Phuong Thao, Miss Sea Lydie Vu, Miss Ao Dai Trinh Thi Hong Dang and Miss Fashion Le Thi Lan Anh.

Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 takes the theme of the world format: Beautifully Confident. From thousands of registered contestants, the organizing committee selected the top 18 to record the reality TV show, after many preliminary rounds in the form of online in June. The beauties continued to go through the sub-contests of Ao Dai Beauty, Evening Gown Beauty, Beach Beauty, and Inspirational Beauty.

The judges include model Lan Khue, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nga (head of the organizing committee), MC Phuong Mai and businesswoman Di Ai Hong Sam. They have a closed interview round with the contestants before the competition night.

Miss Universe was founded in 1952 by the Pacific Mills clothing company in California (USA). The copyright of the contest belonged to several entities before being transferred to Donald Trump in 1996. After moving into politics, Mr. Trump sold the copyright to IMG Models - a modeling agency based in New York (USA). With 72 years of history, Miss Universe is one of the two oldest and largest beauty pageants on the planet, along with Miss World.

In late 2022, Thai billionaire Anne Jakkapong Jakrajutatip confirmed that she spent $20 million to buy the Miss Universe organization, becoming the first transgender person to chair the pageant. After taking power, she carried out many reforms, including bidding to maintain the copyright of the contest, creating controversy. Many national directors in Indonesia, Belize, Malaysia, and Ghana announced their withdrawal due to the high copyright fees.

The organization that holds the copyright for Miss Universe Vietnam and the position of national director changed after Unicorp announced that it would stop holding the right to send people to Miss Universe on February 19. Over the years, this company has sent beauties to Miss Universe including Nguyen Thuy Lam (2008), Vo Hoang Yen (2009), Vu Hoang My (2011), Diem Huong (2012), Truong Thi May (2013), Pham Huong (2015), Le Hang (2016), Khanh Van (2020), Kim Duyen (2021), Ngoc Chau (2022). The best achievement belongs to Miss H'Hen Nie in 2018, entering the top 5 finalists.
