Tomorrow, June 5, the Michelin Guide 2025 announcement ceremony will take place in Da Nang . Let's take a look back at familiar beef noodle and pho restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City after 1 year of being honored by Michelin.
The joy of being named by Michelin for Ms. Nhu's floating beef noodle soup
Last year, Ms. Ly Thi Kim Nhu (68 years old), who opened the famous Co Nhu beef noodle shop in Ho Chi Minh City, was delighted when her restaurant was named by Michelin for the first time in the Michelin Selected category (restaurant recommended by Michelin). This is also the only Hue beef noodle shop in Ho Chi Minh City in this category.
Miss Nhu's beef noodle soup has become more popular after being introduced by a famous beauty queen.

In the first days of being listed on the Michelin list, Ms. Nhu's famous Hue beef noodle soup attracted a steady stream of customers. Many people had to wait their turn. If you are coming here for the first time, it is not easy to find this restaurant as it is located in a deep alley at 274 Vo Van Tan (District 3). However, just go to number 38, alley 287 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, there will be a sign and the owner will be there to welcome you warmly.
After 1 year of being honored by Michelin, Ms. Nhu shared that the restaurant has become more crowded, with many foreign guests coming. The restaurant is still trying to maintain and improve the quality of the dishes to better serve the customers who have supported it for many years.
"Being listed in Michelin is a joy for me and my children, because it is a recognition of the restaurant's efforts to serve customers. Besides the quality of the food, it is important to be happy and welcoming to customers. My son-in-law is also preparing to fly to Da Nang to attend the announcement ceremony this year, I am very much looking forward to it!", the owner shared.
Miss Nhu's floating beef noodle soup still retains its appeal to diners in Ho Chi Minh City, becoming a "favorite restaurant" for many people.

Attending this event, the restaurant said it will temporarily close in Ho Chi Minh City for 3 days, from June 5 to June 7.
This beef noodle shop was opened by Mrs. Nhu here in 1995, from the recipe passed down by her sister-in-law. At that time, each bowl of beef noodle soup she sold cost about 3,000 - 4,000 VND and was just a small sidewalk noodle shop. Later, she moved the premises into her house, deeper into the alley.
In recent years, the owner "retired" and passed the restaurant on to her daughter and son-in-law. She happily watched her children do business and help them with the "outside" tasks. According to the owner, since she first opened, the restaurant has had many customers. The secret lies in the taste of the dishes, especially the broth, as well as the friendliness and thoughtfulness towards customers.
How is Pho Phu Gia now?
Sharing with Thanh Nien , Mr. Nguyen Xuan Chinh (39 years old), owner of Pho Phu Gia restaurant located right at the prime frontage of 148 Ly Chinh Thang Street (District 3) said that after 1 year since being honored in the Michelin Selected category, the restaurant has more customers, especially more Western customers.
According to Mr. Chinh, at present, with many difficulties of F&B, the number of customers of the restaurant is still maintained at a steady level, the restaurant still strives to serve customers better every day.
Pho Phu Gia is popular with both Western and Vietnamese customers.

Pho Phu Gia was once famous in Hanoi . Mr. Chinh said that his maternal grandfather was a chef for the restaurant in the Phu Gia hotel in Hanoi in the past and mainly sold to the French.
Later, the old man returned to open a family pho restaurant, selling on a street in Hanoi. His descendants gradually moved to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business and started selling the family pho dish. "In 1997, my parents moved to Saigon to start a business, opening a family pho restaurant on Nguyen Duy Duong Street (District 5). However, there were many problems with the location, so in 2000 my parents decided to sell their land in Hanoi to buy this house, and have been selling pho ever since," Mr. Chinh said about the pho restaurant, which is also his family's house on Ly Chinh Thang Street.
The once famous bowl of pho in Hanoi was commented by many diners in Ho Chi Minh City for its "conservative" flavor and the way it was eaten without vegetables like the Southern style of pho.

Mr. Chinh and his brother inherited their parents' pho restaurant in 2014, nearly 10 years ago. The restaurant owner said he is also waiting for Michelin's 2025 list this year. If he continues to be honored, it will be a great joy for him.
In 2024, Michelin will award stars to 7 restaurants in Vietnam and 59 "delicious, reasonably priced" Bib Gourmand restaurants and 99 Michelin Selected restaurants along with a number of other individual awards. This year's Michelin Guide announcement ceremony is scheduled to take place in Da Nang on Thursday, June 5, marking the third year Michelin has appeared in Vietnam and awarded stars to restaurants.
