Currently, the Xuong Giang writing group has 13 members led by poet Doan Huy Canh, most of whom are retired veterans, teachers, workers, civil servants, businessmen... many of whom are members of the provincial Literature and Arts Association. The person with the most books is Chu Ngoc Phan with about 20 books, the person with the least is 3 books.
Of course, the number of books does not really evaluate the author's talent or the quality of the work, but it shows the true work of the members of the writing group. In general, through the opinions of readers and the provincial literary and artistic community, the group really has many mature writers, appearing in the central and local press such as: Tan Quang, Dinh Tien Hai, Duong Van Hiep, Dang Ba Khanh, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Doan Huy Canh... Among them, poet Tan Quang is a member of the Vietnam Writers Association .
For a long time, many poetry clubs/groups have appeared in the province, but many of them have disbanded. As the old saying goes, “building a pagoda is easy, keeping the ceremony is difficult”, the existence of a poetry and literature club/group depends on many factors. In addition to passion, it also requires scientific and sophisticated management, specific and practical activities and appropriate financial resources. All of that is done quite thoroughly in the Xuong Giang writing group with an enthusiastic and responsible director - who used to be an experienced manager in a famous enterprise in the province.
The activities of the Xuong Giang writing group are held twice a month, following the theme of events in the hometown and country. The activities are also very diverse: Field trips to compose in and outside the province, organizing poetry exchanges, introducing and promoting new works of authors, calling for socialized sponsorship... The members are always united, close-knit, and help each other.
At the end of May, the group released their first poetry collection called “Xuong Giang”, a collection of poems by 12 authors. Among them, 5 female writers with sensitive souls, multi-dimensional perspectives on life and kind, delicate hearts still create surprising effects, pondering about life, humanity and the desire for happiness. Each person has a poetic personality in the common inherent with impressive verses. That is Tran Thi Chung full of torment “Mistletoe though lying in the leaves/ Who knows how to love the old tree/ Only the bright sunlight nourishes the color of the leaves/ Love the tree before each change of season”. A Ngoc Mai full of mixed feelings “She goes in the afternoon, the fallen flowers are scattered/ Leaving a lullaby with the purple xoan flowers” . Poetry lovers also meet a Ha Thao with a profound perspective "I return to visit the border, the milestone/ The grass is lush green but the roots are still purple" or a sentimental Tran Thi Thanh Thuy "On the wine bottle in the corner of the house/ The old fingerprints are already a bit drunk... No moldy tea all winter/ Warmth embraces the cold lying looking at the wall".
For male writers like Dinh Tien Hai, Tan Quang, Duong Van Hiep, they really haunt many people with their way of feeling, thinking, intertwining the virtual and the real, their extremely rich imagination, as if there is an echo behind the words. The verses have many layers. The poetic ideas are strange. Reading their poems, one must be slow, thoughtful, and interpretive: "Afternoon back / Sad heart like a net / Wherever I hit, I get stuck" (Dinh Tien Hai); "Nineteen or twenty years old, it becomes a sob / Mother's hair is white far away, the clouds are still here" (Duong Van Hiep); "The bamboo bank is soaked with swaying smoke / Smoke is the string that ties the kite of the crescent moon" (Tan Quang)...
Poets like Dang Ba Khanh, Doan Huy Canh, Nguyen Chi Dien, Ngo Trong Binh are filled with love for their homeland, country, and comrades with a very passionate and sincere consciousness and feeling, expressing many wishes: "Poaching a bucket of Buddha's gate/ Suddenly feeling at peace" (Dang Ba Khanh); "The river reflects the silent temple roofs/ To keep the flow of the vast Zen realm" (Doan Huy Canh); "Laughter carries the dream/ The sad sound drops absentmindedly in the spring afternoon" (Ngo Trong Binh); "The bamboo fence dyes my childhood/ Green in the lullaby of my grandmother" (Nguyen Chi Dien)...
The good news is that this group of poets brings together many styles. Each writer has his own unique personality and is surpassing himself in accepting to explore or break away from the current poetry trend. The collection of poems "Xuong Giang" appeared in the poetry world in a very mature way, contributing to raising the position of the Xuong Giang group in the literary and artistic life of the province.
