There were 1,438 new cases nationwide.

According to the Ministry of Health's Covid-19 prevention and control bulletin, on May 23, Vietnam recorded 1,438 new cases, with one death in Ben Tre ; 32,419 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has recorded 11,605,398 cases, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories. In terms of the number of cases per million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories (an average of 117,281 cases per million people).

Number of recovered patients: 543 patients were declared recovered today; total number of recovered cases: 10,635,912; number of patients currently receiving oxygen is 77, including: Oxygen via mask: 64 cases; high-flow oxygen (HFNC): 8 cases; non-invasive mechanical ventilation: 2 cases; invasive mechanical ventilation: 3 cases; ECMO: 0 cases. Number of deaths: 1 death was recorded today in Ben Tre. Average number of deaths recorded over the past 7 days: 1 case.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Vietnam to date is 43,205, representing 0.4% of the total number of infections. The total number of deaths ranks 26th out of 231 territories, and the number of deaths per million people ranks 141st out of 231 countries and territories worldwide . Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths ranks 7th out of 50 (3rd in ASEAN), and the number of deaths per million people ranks 29th out of 50 Asian countries and territories (5th in ASEAN).

On May 22nd, 32,419 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered is 266,382,144, including: 223,726,967 doses for people aged 18 and over: 70,909,110 doses of the first dose; 68,455,527 doses of the second dose; 14,344,113 doses of the booster dose; 52,128,501 doses of the first booster dose; and 17,889,716 doses of the second booster dose. 23,965,543 doses for children aged 12-17: 9,130,889 doses of the first dose; and 9,021,366 doses of the second dose. The first booster dose was 5,813,288 doses. The total number of doses for children aged 5-11 years is 18,689,634 doses: 10,224,237 doses for the first dose; and 8,465,397 doses for the second dose.
