* In women's futsal, the Vietnamese women's futsal team is in Group B with Myanmar and Indonesia. Group A includes Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. This is a balanced group, as Myanmar (ranked 48th in the world ) and Indonesia (ranked 52nd) are both progressive opponents, having caused considerable difficulties for Vietnam in recent Games.

* Meanwhile, in the men's futsal category, there are 5 teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar. The teams compete in a round robin to determine the final ranking. The goal of Vietnam's men's futsal is to improve on their performance compared to the 32nd SEA Games, where the team won the Bronze Medal.

Looking ahead to the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Football Federation has proactively built a thorough preparation plan over the past several months. The Vietnam U22 team - the core force participating in the SEA Games - has regularly gathered in sync with the national team during FIFA Days, and has competed in international tournaments such as the U22 CFA Team China 2024 and 2025.
During FIFA Days in October 2025, the team trained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and played a friendly match with U23 Qatar. Next November, U22 Vietnam will continue to participate in an international tournament in China - an important milestone to test the force before the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.
In the women's football category, the Vietnamese team will gather again on October 21, then go to Japan for training and international friendly matches. The men's and women's futsal teams will also officially gather at the end of October, aiming to complete their tasks at the 33rd SEA Games.
