TASS news agency reported that at the talks, Foreign Minister Lavrov emphasized that Russia-China relations started 2025 with many positive results.
He believes that "the next steps in 2025 will bring significant results, based on the tasks set by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping."
Affirming that the relationship between Moscow and Beijing has played and will continue to play an important role in maintaining international stability and preventing the risk of escalating confrontation, the head of Russian diplomacy emphasized: "Our strategic relationship will expand cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, especially at the Security Council, as well as at international organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the BRICS Group of Emerging Economies (BRICS), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the G20."
According to him, these are important steps to promote multipolarism and "help Western partners get used to working in a fair, transparent and mutually respectful way."
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two veteran diplomats also discussed a number of important regional and international issues, including Eurasian security, relations with the United States, the Ukrainian crisis and the situation in the Asia- Pacific region.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that China supports initiatives to resolve the Ukraine crisis by peaceful means.
According to Beijing, it is necessary to address the root causes of the conflict based on the principles of the UN Charter, especially the requirement to unconditionally respect human rights.
In particular, the two sides emphasized the role of the G20 in promoting equal dialogue between the West and the rest of the world in financial and economic fields, in line with the G20's common mission.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the dialogue between the two foreign ministers was held in a constructive and trusting atmosphere, reflecting the characteristics of the Russia-China strategic partnership. Foreign Minister Lavrov confirmed that the two sides had agreed on Wang Yi's upcoming visit to Moscow, but did not specify the date of the visit.
