According to a report on e-commerce tax collection and digital transformation in the first four months of the year, the Tax Department ( Ministry of Finance ) stated that 153 foreign suppliers, including Facebook (Meta), Google, TikTok, Microsoft, etc., have declared and paid taxes through the Tax Department's electronic portal. Notably, the tax revenue in the first four months of this year reached VND 5,100 billion, an increase of 93.6% compared to the same period last year.

To professionalize tax management for foreign suppliers, the E-commerce Tax Sub-Department under the Tax Department has announced that, effective May 19th, the tax authority directly managing foreign suppliers will be the E-commerce Tax Sub-Department, instead of the Large Enterprise Tax Sub-Department as before.

When exchanging information regarding procedures related to registration, declaration, tax payment, and taxpayer information, foreign suppliers will continue to do so as before, through the Electronic Portal for Foreign Suppliers (https://etaxvn.gdt.gov.vn/nccnn/).

At the same time, for any difficulties encountered in fulfilling their tax obligations in Vietnam, foreign suppliers should contact the E-commerce Tax Department for timely guidance and support.

To facilitate the handover of tax management responsibilities for foreign suppliers from the Large Enterprise Tax Office to the E-commerce Tax Office, the online portal for foreign suppliers (https://etaxvn.gdt.gov.vn/nccnn/) will be temporarily suspended from 6 PM on May 16th to 12 AM on May 18th for system upgrades and conversion.

This restructuring of the tax administration aims to quickly adapt to the rapid development of the digital economy and cross-border e-commerce, and is an important step in the modernization of the tax sector, focusing on both domestic and cross-border taxpayers.

The tax authorities expect to enhance the specialization of tax management for specific target groups, while improving the quality of support and ensuring transparency and efficiency in tax declaration and payment for cross-border businesses.
