Consider high school graduation exam scores
The university admission method based on high school graduation exam scores is used by almost all schools, with a large number of enrollment targets. Specifically, candidates taking the exam will use the results to consider graduation and apply for admission to universities.
After the Ministry of Education and Training announces the exam results, universities will apply the regulations and quotas set out to determine the minimum score. Consider high school transcripts
In recent years, the method of considering transcripts has been chosen by many universities and students as an admission method. Depending on each school, the admission criteria may be different. However, according to the Circular of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are two main conditions that are often given when registering for admission through transcripts as follows:
- Candidates have graduated from high school.
- The score of each subject in the admission combination must be at least 6.0 points.
There are currently 5 most popular ways to apply to university through transcripts:
- Admission based on grade 12 average score.
- Admission is based on the average score of all 3 subjects in the admission group.
- Admission is based on the average score of 6 semesters from grade 10 to grade 12.
- Admission is based on the average score of 5 semesters, including 2 semesters of grade 10, 2 semesters of grade 11 and semester 1 of grade 12.
- Admission is based on the average score of each subject in each admission group.
Some top schools use the high school transcript admission method, for example: Diplomatic Academy, University of Commerce, Hanoi University of Culture, Vinh University, International Faculty (Hue University), University of Finance - Marketing.
Direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training
The Ministry of Education and Training and some universities have their own regulations on direct admission and priority admission. Normally, candidates who are considered for direct admission or priority admission are students who have participated in international competitions such as international Olympics, international science and technology competitions, won national excellent student awards, and students from poor districts.

Consider the results of the competency assessment test, thinking assessment
Most universities today use the results of the competency assessment exam administered by Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University or the thinking assessment exam administered by Hanoi University of Science and Technology for admission.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Hanoi University of Education also have specialized competency assessment exams. This exam is organized with 6 tests corresponding to different subjects and is used as a method of university admission.
Consider international certificates
Candidates with international language certificates such as IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, ACT, SAT, etc. and achieving the school's required score will be eligible for this admission method.
Some schools that apply the international certificate review method are: National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi National University, University of Commerce, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
In addition to the common admission methods mentioned above, many universities across the country also conduct admissions using many other methods such as: combining direct admission according to a separate project, cultural exams organized by training institutions for admission, combining high school graduation exam results with aptitude test scores, combining high school study results with aptitude test scores, combining high school graduation exam results with international certificates, considering academic records with international certificates; interviews.
