TPO - With a history spanning over 300 years, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquerware village (Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province) is the oldest surviving traditional craft in the area. Binh Duong Province is implementing a project to preserve and transform this place into an ancient town tourist area.

The sign directs you to Tuong Binh Hiep lacquerware village, turning left from National Highway 13 in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Phuoc.

From the beginning of Ho Van Cong Street, where it intersects with National Highway 13, there is a sign directing you to the traditional craft village of Tuong Binh Hiep (Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province).

About 500 meters further in, the locals have placed a pair of dragon-shaped vases, a distinctive feature of the traditional craft village of Tuong Binh Hiep.

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Duong province, there are currently 32 craft villages with 9 traditional crafts in the province. Among them, the Tuong Binh Hiep lacquerware village has a history of over 300 years.

Over the years, due to various reasons such as competition from modern industrial products and a lack of successor human resources, many traditional craft villages in Binh Duong are facing the risk of disappearing and being lost.

The Tuong Binh Hiep lacquerware craft village has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

To preserve and promote the traditional cultural values ​​of the craft village, Binh Duong province is implementing the project "Conservation and development of Tuong Binh Hiep lacquerware craft village, combined with tourism in Thu Dau Mot city and surrounding areas".

Accordingly, the project will provide support through the development of collective trademarks, capital assistance to lacquerware production facilities to ensure environmental protection, and the integration of tourism with craft village visits. In the future, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquerware village will become a tourist destination in the old town.

According to the plan, the Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer village will preserve the existing ancient structures to safeguard the local history and culture.

The craft village will be built with complete infrastructure, including a wastewater treatment system, a centralized production area, a product display area, ancestral temple, a village entrance gate, vocational training, and tourism services.
