Mr. Le Xuan Quang, the school's principal, said that the school strongly supports the government's policy of supporting meals for primary and secondary school students in mountainous border communes. "This policy is very practical, especially for ethnic minority students, because free meals are the condition to keep them going to school and studying better," Mr. Quang said.

Ms. Ho Thi Thuy Van, Principal of Dak Ha Primary School (Dak Ha Commune, Tu Mo Rong District, Kon Tum), said that studying two sessions a day will help improve the quality of learning, especially for students from ethnic minority areas. However, the problem is that according to Decree 116, students who live 4 km or more away from school for primary school and 7 km or more for secondary school are eligible for boarding meals. When studying two sessions, students who are not eligible for boarding meals will have to go home for lunch and then return to school in the afternoon. Meanwhile, Tu Mo Rong is a mountainous district with terrain mainly consisting of steep passes, making students reluctant to go to school on the second session.
"I hope that Decree 116 will be changed so that more students can access boarding meals, and the quality of education will then be more guaranteed," Ms. Van suggested.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Dak To District and Mr. Thai Khac Hoa, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum City, said that the biggest difficulty in teaching 2 sessions/day at the secondary school level is the facilities and teaching staff. According to the Department of Education and Training of Kon Tum Province, the unit has received a directive from the Provincial People's Committee on researching and implementing the policy of teaching 2 sessions/day and assigned specialized departments to research, with the deadline for completion in June 2025.
