In recent days, a number of food service establishments have received notices from the Department of Health about organizing inspection teams to monitor food production and business activities in Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City Police have warned people to be vigilant against scams.

Fake documents of the Department of Health Inspectorate to defraud and appropriate people's property

On September 26, Ho Chi Minh City Police said that they had held many working sessions and recorded a number of scammers using high-tech methods to call owners of food service establishments and request to be friends via the social network Zalo to inform them that an inspection team from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health will inspect and monitor the activities of these establishments related to food safety and hygiene.

Accordingly, the following subjects who were friends with Zalo will send some documents impersonating the Department of Health to business establishments such as decisions and notices of the Department of Health on the establishment of an Inspection and Supervision Team for food production and business establishments in Ho Chi Minh City.

To gain the trust of the business owners, the subjects took a similar form of the document from the state agency to cut and paste. However, if you read the document carefully, it is easy to recognize that it is a fake because the document has many spelling mistakes and the title of the person signing and issuing it is incorrect.

This is a trick of using social networks to impersonate authorities to cause panic and fear in order to ask business owners to transfer money to "bribe" with the purpose of defrauding and appropriating property.

To promptly prevent fraudulent behavior and handle fake information, Ho Chi Minh City Police advise people to be careful of the above scams. If you receive such a notification, please contact the nearest police station for instructions on how to handle it.

Currently, the Department of Health Inspectorate no longer has the function of inspecting and examining food production and trading establishments.
