Việt NamViệt Nam03/07/2024

Not only is Dak Lak home to 49 ethnic groups with unique cultures, it also has a diverse natural landscape, creating a colorful picture that attracts tourists from near and far.

Living in the crowded, bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City, taking advantage of his recent vacation, Mr. Nguyen Van Tam and his wife chose Dak Lak as their destination. Mr. Tam shared that, as a nature lover, through research, he learned that Dak Lak not only has forests and waterfalls but also mountains, terraced fields, and many freshwater lakes. He immediately set out to explore this land on a 5-day, 4-night trip.

Thuy Tien Waterfall (Ea Puk commune, Krong Nang district) is associated with a painful and heartbreaking love legend.

The first time he set foot in Dak Lak, on the way from the airport to the center of Buon Ma Thuot city, Mr. Tam could not help but admire the green of the trees and forests along the road. With the guidance of the locals, his trip had many interesting destinations. First, he chose to explore the majestic waterfalls, from Dray Nur (Dak Lak) to Dray Sap (Dak Nong) nearby. Immersing himself in nature, watching the waterfalls rolling with white foam, all his fatigue seemed to disappear. Next, he expanded his journey with a trip to conquer Elephant Rock, visit Lak Lake (the second largest freshwater lake in Vietnam ), explore Yok Don National Park...

What really impressed him was that along the red basalt plateau, each land he passed through had its own unique landscape. “Dak Lak is not only a land with endless green coffee, pepper, and rubber forests, but also has green hills hidden in the morning mist; lush green rice fields; dipterocarp forests with diverse ecosystems; Elephant Rock standing tall like a mountain in the middle of the windy plateau; a wild, vast Lak Lake surrounded by rolling hills; interspersed with the majestic natural scenery are images of farmers and fishermen farming, fishing, and grazing cows on the hillsides, so beautiful and simple... All of these things create a wild but also very close Dak Lak”, Mr. Tam confided.

Elephant Rock (Yang Reh commune, Krong Bong district) is located in the middle of a majestic, poetic landscape at the foot of the Chu Yang Sin range.

Having lived in Dak Lak for over 30 years, Mr. Nguyen Minh Man (Krong Bong district) finds that this is a place with many forests, mountains, rivers, streams, and a very pleasant atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for tourists.

Along with primeval forests and majestic waterfalls, the area has many lakes and irrigation dams; many vast rice fields reminiscent of the plains, in some places people have converted gently sloping hillsides to grow rice, creating terraced fields reminiscent of the typical image of the Northern mountainous region; or wind power projects implemented in some localities with "giant" wind turbines spanning an entire area of land...

All of these create a very unique natural landscape. According to him, along with the tourist areas that have been put into exploitation, Dak Lak still has many natural locations with wild, rustic beauty, with hidden beauty that has not been fully exploited.

What Mr. Man is especially interested in is that the rivers, waterfalls, and mountains here seem to be associated with fascinating stories and legends that have been passed down through generations. That creates a mysterious, attractive atmosphere for locals and tourists.

For example, Thuy Tien waterfall (Ea Puk commune, Krong Nang district) is associated with a painful and heartbreaking love legend of H'Nang.

The story goes that, in this land, for unknown reasons, Giang was angry and made the sun shine so hard that the rivers and streams dried up, and the villagers suffered from hunger and thirst. H'Nang's husband and the young men in the village had to set out to find new land, but no one returned. H'Nang decided to set out to find her husband and find new land. She passed through many forests and hills, and finally, exhausted, collapsed in the middle of a dry stream. Giang felt sorry for her and made it rain heavily, but H'Nang could not be revived.

Her hair spread along the small stream and became the beautiful, gentle waterfall that is Thuy Tien waterfall today. Or Elephant Rock (Yang Reh commune, Krong Bong district), is the largest monolithic rock in Vietnam located in the middle of the majestic, poetic landscape at the foot of Chu Yang Sin mountain range, carrying within it a mysterious legend about the "walking" rock, the thrilling story of Elephant Rock swallowing a beautiful woman. This mountain is also likened to the god of love, couples in love often sit on the back of Elephant Rock to date, make vows, and pray that the rock god will protect their love...

Many areas in Dak Lak province cultivate rice in large areas.

Having visited Dak Lak many times, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (Da Nang City) confided that, along with festivals and unique traditional cultural features of the local people, nature has truly bestowed Dak Lak with wonderful natural landscapes. This is a destination for those who love to explore and experience. In particular, recently Dak Lak has also developed community tourism, adventure tourism, and forest tours... creating something new for tourists. According to Ms. Phuong, when coming to Dak Lak, tourists should carefully learn about the climate and weather because that will determine the beauty of tourist destinations in terms of natural landscapes, and should choose the right time and come in the best season to bring wonderful experiences.
