Cao Quang Vinh: Happy to help Vietnam team win

After Vietnam's victory over Nepal in the Asian Cup qualifiers, Vietnamese-American defender Cao Quang Vinh shared his emotions: " I am very proud and happy to wear the captain's armband of the Vietnam team for the first time. Even happier, we won the last match."

Regarding the ability to adapt and integrate with the Vietnamese team, Cao Quang Vinh said: " As I have said, the whole team always welcomes me very warmly, so I always feel very comfortable in the Vietnamese team. The team's playing style is also gradually improving, because there are good players, so it is very fun."

Evaluating the match with Nepal, the Vietnamese defender said: “ Nepal is a team that defends well and attacks with counter-attacks. Nepal tried to do that but the Vietnamese team played well in both defense and attack and won.”

“ At halftime, the coach told us to be patient and play wider because they only had 10 players. The whole team followed that, moved the ball quickly and scored 2 more goals. After the match, coach Kim Sang Sik congratulated the whole team and said that the players played well.” – Cao Quang Vinh revealed more.

Evaluating the preparation for the second leg, Cao Quang Vinh said: " We haven't talked about the next match yet, but we definitely will. I think we played well in the previous match. However, we need to be more aggressive when we lose the ball, everyone has to put pressure on the opponent's player who has the ball. I think that's all, because the rest is very good."

“ I think that is very good, because there are more French players of Vietnamese origin coming back to play football. If there are more good players, it will definitely help Vietnamese football to be better” - Cao Quang Vinh answered when asked what it would be like if there were players of mixed blood like him returning to play in his homeland.

At the end of the interview with the media, Cao Quang Vinh said: "The support of the fans is very important, I hope the next match at Thong Nhat Stadium will be fueled even more by the stands."

Regarding the Vietnamese team, after the match against Nepal, the whole team moved to Ho Chi Minh City and was allowed by coach Kim Sang Sik to have a full rest on October 10.

On the afternoon of October 11, the Vietnamese team had their first training session at Thong Nhat Stadium to prepare for the return match against Nepal.
