Why did Tien Linh refuse to be a substitute for coach Kim Sang Sik?

Tien Linh had a reason for refusing coach Kim Sang Sik's decision to substitute players in the match where Vietnam won 3-1 against Nepal on the evening of October 9.

In the 82nd minute, coach Kim Sang Sik prepared to replace Tien Linh and Duy Manh with Duc Chien and Dinh Bac. The two players who were about to enter the field to replace them were also ready to go to the sidelines.

Striker Nguyen Tien Linh was also preparing to leave the field, but he noticed that his teammate Le Pham Thanh Long was showing signs of pain and immediately informed the coaching staff.

Faced with this unexpected development, Coach Kim Sang Sik immediately asked Duc Chien and Dinh Bac to temporarily return to the technical area, and at the same time informed the referee to discuss the substitution. A few minutes later, Thanh Long and Duy Manh were the two names taken off the field, while Tien Linh continued to play until the end of the match.

In this match, Tien Linh opened the score, followed by goals from Xuan Manh and Van Vi. Defender Pham Xuan Manh was voted the best player of the match. The Hanoi FC player shared: "I am very happy to score the first goal for the Vietnam team . This was a difficult match, but after the other team received a red card, we played more easily and took advantage of the opportunity to win."

The second leg match between Vietnam and Nepal will take place at Thong Nhat Stadium, at 7:30 p.m. on October 14.
