The Barcelona striker played 105 minutes but failed to score or assist. Yamal was controlled by Portugal's Nuno Mendes throughout his time on the pitch.
After the match, fans called out Yamal's name, criticized his performance and made comments about the young player's ability to win the Ballon d'Or.
On social network X, a fan wrote: "Ballon d'Or candidate Yamal was defeated by 40-year-old Ronaldo, who is considered to be past his prime." Another fan agreed, saying: "No one will be cheering for Yamal to win the Ballon d'Or after this match."
