(CLO) On October 31st, OpenAI integrated a new search feature into its ChatGPT chatbot, instead of launching a separate search product.
OpenAI says that the search feature on ChatGPT will provide quick, timely answers along with links to relevant web resources based on the user's request.
"The ChatGPT search engine leverages third-party search services as well as content directly provided by partners to deliver the information users are looking for," OpenAI said, adding that the search model is a refined version of GPT-4o.

All ChatGPT Plus and Team users will have access to this model starting October 31st. Business and education users will be able to access these features in the coming weeks. Free users will have access in the coming months.
This AI startup, headed by Sam Altman, has signed content deals with a number of news publishers this year, including Condé Nast, Time magazine, the Financial Times, Business Insider owner Axel Springer, France's Le Monde, and Spain's Prisa Media.
OpenAI says it has worked closely with the news industry and gathered feedback from partners on the search functionality. Any website or publisher can choose to appear in ChatGPT search.
In July, OpenAI launched SearchGPT, a prototype AI-powered search engine capable of accessing information from the internet in real time.
In early October, OpenAI raised $6.6 billion in funding from investors, potentially valuing the company at $157 billion and solidifying its position as one of the world's most valuable privately held companies.
