Upamecano's contract with Bayern expires on June 30, 2026. Both Real and Barcelona see the French international as an ideal option for their defense as he does not have to pay a transfer fee.

Bayern's board of directors want to avoid losing Upamecano for free like David Alaba did before and are trying to convince the player to extend his contract. President Herbert Hainer has repeatedly affirmed: "We want to keep him for a long time."

However, the negotiation process for a new contract between Upamecano and the Bavarian team is still at a standstill due to disagreements over terms.

In the 2025/26 season, Upamecano will continue to play a key role in Bayern's defense. He will play 9 matches in all competitions, including 8 starts, with a total playing time of 669 minutes.

The 1.86m tall centre-back stands out for his powerful playing style, speed and ability to read situations intelligently. Upamecano made a big contribution to Leipzig reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League 2020, before Bayern spent 42.5 million euros to bring him to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2021.

Since then, Upamecano has made over 160 appearances for Bayern, winning three Bundesliga titles and becoming a regular in the Champions League. He is also a member of the France squad, having participated in the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024.

Ronaldo's sad moment On the morning of October 15, Cristiano Ronaldo was disappointed when Portugal could not get an early ticket to the 2026 World Cup because Hungary equalized 2-2 in the last minute.
