According to Yonhap news agency, 21 people were injured in a fire and explosion that occurred on September 1 at a public bathhouse in Busan city, southeastern South Korea.

Local authorities said the fire broke out in the bathroom on the afternoon of September 1 and firefighters had controlled the main fire.

However, an explosion later occurred at this public bathhouse. The sudden explosion injured 21 people, including 2 firefighters who suffered severe burns all over their bodies.

At the time of the fire and explosion, the bathhouse was closed. Therefore, no customers were affected.

A witness said he heard two loud explosions and saw the building shake.

In a statement, firefighters suspected the explosion originated in the boiler room in the building's basement.

Police have restricted access to the area due to fears of further explosions. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
